Atalanta sack Ivan Juric after a 3-0 home loss to Sassuolo, ending his short tenure as head coach. Raffaele Palladino expected to take over

Atalanta BC have confirmed the sacking of head coach Ivan Juric after just 11 matches in charge, following a 3–0 home defeat to newly-promoted Sassuolo on Sunday.

Juric, who succeeded long-time manager Gian Piero Gasperini in the summer, leaves La Dea in 13th place in Serie A, with only two wins from 11 games.

The team have taken just six points from their last eight matches, drawing six and losing two.

In an official statement on Monday, the club said:

“Atalanta BC announces that Ivan Juric has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the first team, along with his closest staff members, Matteo Paro, Miguel Veloso, Pablo Barbero, Stjepan Ostojic, and Michele Orecchio.

Atalanta thanks Ivan Juric and his staff for their efforts and wishes them all the best for the future.”

Juric’s dismissal follows a turbulent fortnight in which the team beat Marseille in the Champions League but fell heavily to Sassuolo in Serie A.

The 49-year-old Croatian also drew attention for a touchline argument with Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman during the European fixture, which reportedly strained dressing-room relations.

Sources in Italy suggest that former Monza and Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino is the leading candidate to replace Juric, as Atalanta seek to stabilise their season.
