Ayra Starr crowned Spotify’s biggest female Afrobeats star as Tems, Libianca, Aya Nakamura and Darkoo complete the Top 5 list

The 22-year-old Nigerian sensation was described by the platform as “the pop star of Afrobeats” in its newly released ranking of the Top 5 Female Afrobeats Artists.

Grammy winner Tems took second place, while American-Cameroonian singer Libianca claimed third. Malian-French hitmaker Aya Nakamura was ranked fourth, and British-Nigerian star Darkoo completed the list in fifth position.

In a surprise twist, South African breakout star Tyla—despite her dominance on award stages and multiple international wins was notably absent from the rankings, sparking debate among fans online.

Spotify also unveiled its list of Top 5 Afrobeats Artistes in Latin America, where Nigerian acts dominated the chart.
