Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development earlier on Friday, stating that Atlético Madrid have reacted negatively to both the timing and structure of the offer, although discussions between the clubs remain open.

Atlético Madrid are currently assessing the proposal internally, with club officials reportedly reluctant to sanction the departure of one of their most important attacking players without first identifying a suitable replacement.

The situation is further complicated by the player’s own stance, with Julián Álvarez already communicating his desire to leave the Madrid side.

Álvarez enjoyed a productive 2025 to 2026 campaign, registering 20 goals and nine assists in 49 appearances across all competitions.

His contributions were instrumental in helping Atlético secure qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League.
