Borno terrorist informants and suspected ISWAP logistics suppliers have been arrested by troops during operations to weaken insurgent networks

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested suspected Borno terrorist informants and logistics suppliers while receiving the surrender of an ISWAP member and destroying an improvised explosive device in a series of operations across the state.

The Nigerian Army said the operations, conducted within the last 24 hours, were aimed at weakening terrorist support structures, restricting insurgent movements and improving security across communities affected by years of violence.

An operational report released on Thursday by the Army said troops from 195 Battalion, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), apprehended a suspected ISWAP/JAS informant in Dusuman Ward, Mafa Local Government Area.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect allegedly maintained contact with terrorists at Labe village and provided intelligence relating to troop movements and military activities.

The Army also reported that troops from 73 Battalion arrested a suspected ISWAP member in Konduga Local Government Area after he voluntarily surrendered.

According to the military, the suspect admitted involvement in three attacks on Delwa and revealed that he abandoned his AK-47 rifle in a river before surrendering to troops.

Items recovered from the suspect included a bicycle, a cutlass, bicycle repair equipment and N6,500 in cash.

In a separate operation, troops from 149 Battalion, supported by the CJTF, arrested another suspected informant in Gubio Local Government Area.

The Army said the suspect confessed to involvement in the June 16 terrorist infiltration of Gubio, an attack during which a CJTF member was killed.

Security forces also intercepted suspected terrorist logistics suppliers near Road Kauji in Damboa Local Government Area during an operation involving troops from 19 Battalion and 25 Brigade Garrison.

The suspects reportedly fled after sighting troops, abandoning supplies believed to have been intended for terrorist groups. Recovered items included two bicycles, cartons of energy drinks, milk, soft drinks, veterinary medicines and a canopy.

The Army further disclosed that troops from 26 Task Force Brigade discovered and safely detonated an IED planted by terrorists in a farming area around Dagari in Sambisa Forest, Bama Local Government Area.

The latest operations form part of continued efforts by security forces to dismantle insurgent networks, particularly the intelligence and supply channels that support terrorist activities in the North-East.

Borno remains at the centre of Nigeria’s counterinsurgency campaign, with military authorities continuing operations against ISWAP and Boko Haram factions while encouraging members of armed groups to surrender.

The Army said it would sustain operations aimed at restoring stability and protecting communities across the region.
