VeryDarkMan slams Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid for flaunting wealth while allegedly neglecting their home communities. Fans divided over the criticism

Controversial social commentator VeryDarkMan has ignited debate after publicly criticising Nigerian music heavyweights Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid.

In a video now making the rounds on social media, he accused the trio of excessive showboating and failing to give back meaningfully to the communities that shaped their rise.

His remarks come amid recent headlines about the stars’ high-end purchases. Burna Boy reportedly splurged ₦3 billion on a new vehicle, while Davido allegedly bought one worth ₦1 billion.

VeryDarkMan questioned the relevance of such displays in a country grappling with poverty and inequality.

“You guys keep buying cars and rubbing it in the face of people. Don’t you people read the room?” he said. “The states you guys came from, what can you boast that you have done? What have people there benefited from you?”

He criticised what he described as token gestures, claiming that the stars are more interested in throwing naira notes at crowds than building long-term change.

“All you people do is show off your wealth, throw small naira on the road, and people hailing you, because you know Nigerians worship money,” he stated.

The social critic also highlighted what he sees as a troubling disconnect between the artists’ global influence and their limited community engagement at home. “You have benefited from the country. What can the fans say they have benefited from you?” he asked.

His comments have divided online audiences. Some supporters argue that celebrities with such reach and wealth owe a duty to invest in education, healthcare, or job creation in their communities.
