Conducted at the studios of SuperSport, the official broadcast partner of CAF, Monday’s draw paired reigning champions Pyramids FC of Egypt with RS Berkane of Morocco — the two finalists of last season’s CAF Super Cup — in a blockbuster Group A.

Joining them are Rivers United of Nigeria and Power Dynamos of Zambia, completing what many analysts have dubbed the “group of ambition and pedigree.”

With champions from four nations, the group is expected to be fiercely contested from start to finish.

Record 12-time winners Al Ahly of Egypt headline Group B, where they face Young Africans (Tanzania), AS FAR (Morocco), and JS Kabylie (Algeria).

The pool boasts a combined 17 continental titles and some of Africa’s most passionate fan bases.

Group C features Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Al Hilal (Sudan), MC Alger (Algeria), and St Éloi Lupopo (DR Congo) — a mix of power, history, and tactical flair.

In Group D, four-time champions Espérance de Tunis will meet Simba SC (Tanzania), Petro de Luanda (Angola), and Stade Malien (Mali), setting up another series of mouth-watering encounters.

The Group Stage will kick off between 21 and 23 November 2025, with two rounds of matches to be played before the CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025.

The competition will pause during the continental showpiece and resume from 23 to 25 January 2026.

The knockout phase begins on 13 March 2026, with the overall champion to claim a $4 million prize, while the runner-up will receive $2 million.

CAF officials described the draw as one of the most balanced and competitive in the history of the tournament.

With seven former African champions, the 2025/2026 campaign promises high drama, tactical duels, and the best of African club football.

For Rivers United, this represents both a challenge and an opportunity to reassert Nigeria’s pedigree in continental football after years of near misses.

Their inclusion in Group A alongside top North African sides adds to the intrigue of a competition brimming with skill and ambition.
