CAF support Infantino FIFA re-election confirmed as African football leaders unanimously back Gianni Infantino for 2027–2031 FIFA presidency

The Confederation of African Football Confederation of African Football on Wednesday formally endorsed FIFA President Gianni Infantino for re-election, securing unanimous backing from all 54 member associations ahead of the 2027–2031 cycle.

The decision was reached during meetings held in Vancouver, where African football leaders agreed on a unified position in support of the incumbent, delivering one of the earliest and most influential endorsements in the upcoming electoral process.

In an official statement, CAF confirmed that its member associations collectively agreed to support Infantino’s continued leadership at the world governing body.

The endorsement is seen as a significant political boost for Infantino, whose tenure at the helm of FIFA since 2016 has been marked by major reforms, including expanded global tournaments and increased financial allocations to member associations.

Africa’s collective backing is considered particularly powerful given its voting strength within FIFA’s congress, positioning Infantino strongly ahead of formal campaigning for the next presidential election.

The election is expected to take place in Morocco, with Infantino now widely viewed as a leading contender to extend his tenure through to 2031, depending on eligibility rules governing term limits.
