Dangote Refinery petrol price drop to ₦820/litre prompts IPMAN to announce plans for nationwide pump price cuts starting Monday, easing pressure on consumers

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has announced plans to lower the pump price of petrol across the country starting Monday.

This follows a recent drop in Dangote Refinery petrol price, which reduced its ex-depot rate from ₦840 to ₦820 per litre.

Speaking on Friday, IPMAN’s National President, Abubakar Maigandi, confirmed the development and its implications.

“Whether Dangote Refinery or ex-depot petrol price, our members will also reduce. We will announce a fresh fuel price on Monday,” Maigandi stated.

At present, fuel prices range between ₦905 and ₦945 per litre in Abuja. Major retailers such as NNPC, NIPCO, and AA Rano sell around ₦910, while outlets like AP Ardova and MRS – associated with Dangote – are slightly lower at ₦905.

Independent stations such as Ranoil and Total Emadeb often sell for as high as ₦945 per litre, placing strain on consumers already burdened by rising living costs.

The expected reduction comes as a relief amid economic hardship driven by fuel subsidy removal and volatile exchange rates.

Industry watchers see this as further evidence of Dangote Refinery’s growing influence in Nigeria’s downstream oil sector. The 650,000 barrels-per-day facility began local fuel distribution earlier in the year.
