Demehin joins Benfica on a three-year deal as the Super Falcons defender moves from Galatasaray to the Portuguese champions

The move takes Demehin to one of Portugal’s most successful clubs as she continues her development at the highest level of European women’s football.

Demehin arrives after a spell with Galatasaray, having previously built her career through Nigeria’s domestic women’s league before moving to Europe.

The centre-back began her professional career in France with Stade Reims. Before leaving Nigeria, Demehin represented Sunshine Queens and Rivers Angels in the Nigeria Women Football League.

The defender said Benfica’s reputation and the opportunity to continue improving were central to her decision.

“Benfica is the best club in Portugal and one of the best clubs in the world,” Demehin told BTV.

“Therefore, I know that being here, I can improve my performance.”

The transfer represents another significant step in Demehin’s increasingly international career.

Her development has also been closely linked to the Super Falcons, where she has emerged as part of Nigeria’s defensive options at international level.

Demehin’s move to Portugal comes at an important stage of her career.
