DICON-D7G strengthens Nigeria-Turkey defence partnership, boosting local military production, technology transfer, and operational readiness

Nigeria’s push for defence self-reliance has received a major boost as DICON-D7G, an indigenous defence manufacturing company, positions itself as a strategic bridge between Nigeria and more than ten leading Turkish defence firms.

Operating within Nigeria’s expanding defence industrial ecosystem, DICON-D7G facilitates access to Turkish companies renowned for military hardware production, precision engineering, and advanced defence technologies.

Chief Executive Officer Mr. Osman Chennar said the collaboration leverages the expertise of retired military generals and professionals from Nigerian security agencies to strengthen local military equipment production, maintenance, and supply chains.

“This partnership is beyond the supply of finished components,” Chennar explained.

“It emphasises technology transfer, skills development, and local assembly, creating a structured pathway for quality-assured materials while laying the foundation for long-term self-sufficiency.”

The collaboration, which has been active since 2018, involves Turkish companies including Aselsan, TAIS Shipyard, Turkish Aerospace, Kalandor Dış Ticaret ve Savunma Sanayi Limited, MKE, Roketsan, ZSR Patlayıcı Sanayi ve Anonim Şirketi, and Ateşçi Machinery.

All firms operate under strict international standards to ensure components meet the requirements of modern defence and aerospace applications.

By integrating Turkish capabilities, DICON-D7G aims to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imports, cut procurement costs, and accelerate the maintenance and repair of military assets.

Chennar noted that the initiative is expected to improve operational readiness, enhance confidence in locally supported military systems, and position Nigeria as a regional hub for defence manufacturing and maintenance.

Beyond national security benefits, the CEO highlighted economic gains, including employment creation, industrial growth, and deeper participation in the global defence value chain.

All Turkish government defence procurement exports involving DICON-D7G are conducted through D7G Savunma Sanayi İthalat İhracat Limited Şirketi, a Turkish-registered entity.
