DJ Cuppy marriage proposals continue daily, the Nigerian entertainer reveals while discussing education, career growth and her personal journey

Nigerian disc jockey and entrepreneur Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has revealed that she receives marriage proposals every day, while explaining how her focus on education and personal growth has shaped her journey.

DJ Cuppy made the revelation during an interview with Marie Claire published on Thursday, August 6, 2026, where she discussed her career, academic achievements, philanthropy and public life.

The entertainer, who has built a successful career in music, said her continued pursuit of education has often become a humorous response to questions about marriage, particularly from her grandmother.

“I call it avoidance of marriage. Every time my grandma asks, ‘Where’s your husband?’, I show her a new certificate,” she said.

However, she clarified that finding a partner has not been difficult due to a lack of interest from potential suitors.

“I get marriage proposals every day. And I’m not even talking about fans. Everyone is apparently trying to help me when I have not asked to be helped,” Cuppy said.

The 33-year-old entertainer has developed an academic profile alongside her music career, having studied at institutions including New York University, University of Oxford and King’s College London.

Cuppy explained that her interest in education comes from a desire to gain deeper knowledge of the industries she works in rather than simply being a participant.

“With entertainment, I have never just wanted to participate. I want to understand who controls what and learn as much about their processes as possible,” she said.

Beyond entertainment, she has also focused on humanitarian work, describing philanthropy as a responsibility that should create sustainable solutions rather than temporary relief.

“Charity is just giving because you want to. Being a philanthropist, though, is about making a lasting difference. It’s about long-lasting results,” she said.

The singer also reflected on her relationship with her father, businessman Femi Otedola, and a moment that highlighted how her public profile has evolved.

She recalled that her father once told her someone approached him at an airport and recognised him as “Cuppy’s dad”.

“Normally, I’m Femi’s daughter, but on that day, to that person, he was my dad,” she said.
