Edo police launch manhunt for Timothy Gilbert after he allegedly bathed girlfriend in acid. Victim, Angela Ogah, fights for her life.

The Edo State Police Command has launched a manhunt for Timothy Gilbert, who allegedly bathed his girlfriend, Angela Ogah, 40, with acid at Ihovbe Quarters, Ikpoba Hill, police confirmed on Wednesday.

Moses Yamu, the command’s spokesperson, said the suspect fled the scene following the attack, which reportedly stemmed from disputes over alleged infidelity.

“The command has commenced a manhunt for the arrest of the suspect, and I am sure he will be brought to justice,” Yamu stated.

Ogah was admitted to a private hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment and battling for her life.

Her lawyer, John Izegaegbe, said a petition had been forwarded to the state Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, urging immediate action.

“The victim is in severe pain and could barely speak when journalists visited her. Gilbert is on the run after bathing Ogah with a substance suspected to be acid. We are urging the authorities to effect his arrest without delay,” Izegaegbe said.

The police spokesperson advised the public that it is safer to part ways than remain in abusive relationships, stressing that “love is not by force.”
