Esio Uquong Udoh urges voter registration in Akwa Ibom as a critical step towards shaping Nigeria’s future ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Coordinator of Support Tinubu for Better Nigeria, 2027 (ST4BN), and former Chairman of the South South Parliamentary Caucus, called on residents to engage fully in the voter registration and revalidation exercise.

Speaking at a sensitisation event in Uyo, Udoh declared,

“If you have your voter’s card, you have your power. Akwa Ibom people must rise and be counted in shaping the destiny of our state and our nation.”

He emphasised the importance of engaging young Nigerians, particularly those who were under 18 during the last elections, encouraging them to seize this opportunity to register.

Udoh also made a passionate appeal to the Akwa Ibom chapter of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to decentralise the registration process, urging deployment of staff to polling units and local wards.

“INEC must hear the cries of the people,” he said.
“Deploying staff to local areas will reduce queues and improve access, especially for rural dwellers.”

Demonstrating a strong sense of community spirit, the former federal lawmaker urged local government chairmen to provide logistical support for elderly and physically challenged voters, ensuring no citizen is excluded.

“This is not just about elections—it’s about inclusion. No one should be left behind.”

Udoh reiterated that genuine support for President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno begins with civic participation, especially possession of a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).

He described the PVC as a symbol of democratic empowerment, asserting that it gives Nigerians the legal power to influence leadership at all levels.

“Without it, citizens forfeit the chance to decide who governs them—and the future of their communities,” he said.

With the 2027 general elections on the horizon, Udoh’s call underscores the central role of civic responsibility in Nigeria’s democratic evolution.

He encouraged political stakeholders, youth leaders, and community influencers to mobilise for a massive voter registration campaign, insisting that progress and participation must go hand in hand.
