Despite Pau Cubarsí’s goal giving Barcelona hope, Girona’s solid home performance proved decisive.

In a post-match interview, Flick admitted his team struggled defensively, particularly during transitions.

“We defended very poorly, particularly during transitions. Our positioning was off, and we struggled to handle Girona’s attacking threats,” Flick said.

He added:

“We needed better control of the game and fewer mistakes. In the first half, we created chances, but we must show more hunger and determination to win these matches. We did not play at our best, and I won’t make excuses, but improvement is necessary.”

The defeat leaves Barcelona two points behind league leaders Real Madrid, increasing pressure on Flick and his squad as the race for the LaLiga title intensifies.
