Senate President Godswill Akpabio publicly disavows a planned support rally, labelling it a “satanic” ploy and issuing a firm Akpabio rally denouncement

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has strongly condemned a planned rally organised in his support in Akwa Ibom State, describing it as “satanic.”

The rally, scheduled for Friday, was organised by an association known as the Progressive Peoples’ Resolution (PPR) and led by Ubong Idemudo.

Akpabio, through a statement issued by his Special Assistant, Media, Jackson Udom, clarified that he did not authorise the rally. He accused the organisers of attempting to exploit his name for their “devilish goal.”

“The attention of the office of the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has been drawn to a planned rally purported to be in support of the Senate President and organised by an unknown association by name; Progressive Peoples’ Resolution (PPR) and led by one Ubong Idemudo, a known controversial character, slated for tomorrow 4th April, 2025,” the statement read.

Akpabio stated that he was unaware of any rally organised in his support in Akwa Ibom and urged his supporters and the people of Akwa Ibom State to disregard the event and continue with their daily activities. He further alleged that the planned rally was the work of “fifth columnists” seeking to manipulate his name for their own agenda.

“The planned rally, from information pieced together, is the handiwork of fifth columnists trying to use the name of the Senate President to achieve their devilish goal,” the statement continued.

Akpabio has directed the police and other security agencies in the state to prevent the rally from taking place, emphasising that it lacks his approval.
