Gombe Government House truck crash causes panic as sand truck hits gate under construction, damaging structure but no fatalities reported

Panic erupted in Gombe State on Tuesday afternoon after a sand-laden truck lost control and rammed into the main gate of the Government House, causing significant damage to the structure under construction.

The incident occurred at about 12:55 p.m. at the entrance being renovated as part of ongoing works ordered by Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.

The Gombe Government House truck crash sent shockwaves through the area, prompting residents and passers-by to flee the scene in fear of further danger.

Eyewitnesses said the vehicle suddenly veered off course while approaching the gate and struck the structure at speed.

The impact left visible damage to newly installed sections of the entrance, which had not yet been opened for official use.

Several residents described moments of confusion and panic as the truck approached uncontrollably, with many saying the situation could have resulted in a far worse outcome if more people had been nearby.

A security official at the scene confirmed that the force of the collision bent parts of the gate and disrupted ongoing construction work.

The damaged structure is part of a broader renovation project at the Government House entrance.

The truck involved is believed to belong to Tricata Nigeria Ltd., although authorities have yet to confirm full details, including the vehicle’s registration number.

Officials at the Government House later confirmed the incident, stating that no fatalities were recorded.

They added that the driver sustained injuries and has been taken for medical treatment.
