Gombe Government House truck crash causes damage to main gate as driver is injured but no lives lost in the incident

Panic broke out in Gombe State on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, after a truck loaded with sand rammed into the main gate of the Government House, damaging part of the structure undergoing renovation.

The incident, which occurred at about 12:55 p.m., involved a gate recently constructed as part of ongoing upgrades at the Government House under Governor Muhammadu Yahaya.

Eyewitnesses said the truck appeared to lose control before crashing into the facility, triggering fear among residents and passersby in the area.

A trader, Musa Abdullahi, who witnessed the incident, said the vehicle approached at speed before veering off course and slamming into the gate.

Another eyewitness, Ibrahim Sadiq, noted that the situation could have been more severe if pedestrians had been present at the time, adding that people quickly fled the scene as the truck approached.

A security aide at the location confirmed that the impact caused visible damage to the newly installed gate, bending parts of the structure.

The truck is believed to belong to Tricata Nigeria Ltd, although its registration details were not immediately available.

Confirming the development, Director-General of Press Affairs at the Government House, Ismaila Misilli, said no lives were lost in the incident.

“It happened earlier today. We thank God there was no loss of life. The driver sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment,” he said.

The Government House is currently undergoing extensive renovation and rehabilitation as part of infrastructure projects initiated by the state administration.

Authorities have yet to disclose the exact cause of the crash, but investigations are expected to determine whether mechanical failure or human error was responsible.
