Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke dismisses rumors of joining APC, reaffirming his commitment to PDP and citing “fake news” from political opponents

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has firmly refuted rumors of his planned defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), labeling them as “fake news” propagated by those intimidated by his administration’s performance.

During a strategic meeting with PDP leaders, elders, and officials in Osogbo, Adeleke declared his unwavering commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The meeting, coordinated by PDP State Chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi, saw attendance from key party figures, including former Governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola (virtually), and former Deputy Speaker Hon. Lasun Yusuf. Stakeholders reiterated their support for Adeleke, highlighting his contributions to the state.

“My people, party elders and chiefs, I declare before you today that I am not defecting to APC or any other political party. I remain in PDP. Ignore any fake news,” Adeleke stated.

A communique issued after the meeting conveyed a vote of confidence in Adeleke’s leadership and endorsed him for a second term in 2026.

The PDP leaders also commended the party’s handling of local government issues and expressed optimism about the national party’s efforts to resolve internal challenges.
