Thierry Henry, the Arsenal Football Club legend, in London, warned that the Gunners’ UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg encounter against Atlético Madrid will present a very different challenge from their earlier meeting in the competition.

Henry Arsenal Atletico Madrid Champions League warning comes ahead of Wednesday’s fixture at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, where Arsenal are set to face Diego Simeone’s side in a high-stakes European semi-final.

Arsenal had previously delivered a commanding 4-0 victory over Atlético Madrid at the Emirates Stadium during the league phase of the Champions League earlier in the season, a result that showcased their attacking dominance on home soil.

However, Henry cautioned against drawing conclusions from that result, stressing that knockout football in Madrid will carry a far greater level of intensity and tactical discipline from the Spanish side.

“Atletico lost at The Emirates, I think it was 4-0 in the league phase, which doesn’t tell you a lot, but it tells you it’s a game where we created, actually,” Henry told CBS Sports.

“But it will be different (on Wednesday at Riyadh Air Metropolitano),” he added, emphasising the shift in context and pressure for the decisive knockout clash.

“On behalf of COWLSO and everything that is decent, we want to appreciate you, we want to honour you,” the governor said.

The couple subsequently shared a kiss as Nigerian singer 2Baba’s song, “African Queen”, played at the event.

The conference aims to inspire women, empower leaders and promote a purposeful future through discussions and activities centred on women’s development.
