INEC has revised its Phase II Continuous Voter Registration in Osun State, approving the rotation of enrolment devices to improve access for eligible voters

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a revised operational approach for the ongoing Phase II Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Osun State, approving the rotation of voter enrolment devices across communities to expand access for eligible voters.

The decision was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Osogbo by the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke, and signed by the Commission’s Public Affairs Officer, Musa Olurode.

According to the statement, INEC’s National Headquarters in Abuja approved the redeployment of the INEC Voter Enrolment Device (IVED) among Registration Areas within each Local Government Area of the state.

“The rotation exercise is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 2, and will run until Friday, April 10, 2026, covering a total of 50 days across the affected locations,” the commission said.

INEC added that the final week of the Phase II CVR would be conducted exclusively at INEC Local Government Area offices across the state to allow eligible residents who may have missed earlier opportunities to complete their registration.

Explaining the adjustment, the commission said it was necessitated by challenges observed during the exercise, including long distances to council offices, overcrowding at registration centres, and unequal access to voter registration services in some communities.

The commission reiterated that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise remains open to Nigerians who have attained the age of 18 and are yet to be captured in the national voters’ register.

It also noted that the exercise covers registered voters who wish to transfer their registration, correct errors on their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or replace lost or damaged cards.

INEC Osun State reaffirmed that the revised approach aligns with its commitment to inclusiveness, transparency and fairness in the electoral process, in accordance with constitutional provisions.

“The commission remains committed to making voter registration accessible to all eligible citizens across the state,” the statement said.

INEC further disclosed that detailed schedules for the rotation of enrolment devices across Registration Areas would be communicated through its official information channels, urging residents to take full advantage of the exercise and cooperate with its officials throughout the registration period.
