Inter Miami Messi absence proves costly in 0-0 draw with FC Cincinnati. Club unveils Rodrigo De Paul as new signing amid Eastern Conference pressure

With both Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba suspended for skipping the MLS All-Star Game, Inter Miami lacked their usual spark and were unable to break down a resolute Cincinnati defense.

The Inter Miami Messi absence created a noticeable void in creativity and leadership, as the Herons failed to convert several half-chances and ultimately relied on a late officiating decision to escape defeat.

In stoppage time, Cincinnati’s Miles Robinson saw a potential game-winner ruled out due to a controversial foul on Noah Allen.

Miami remain seven points behind Cincinnati in the standings, missing a key opportunity to close the gap.

Despite the result, the club had reason to celebrate. Before kickoff, they officially unveiled Rodrigo De Paul, Messi’s World Cup-winning teammate. The 31-year-old joins from Atletico Madrid and brings elite experience to the MLS.

De Paul expressed enthusiasm for the new chapter: “What brings me to Inter Miami is the desire to compete, win titles, to write the pages in the club’s history.”
