Jigawa police operations recover illicit drugs, stolen items, and vandalised infrastructure while arresting multiple suspects across the state

The Jigawa State Police Command has recovered 7,096 illicit drugs, stolen property, and vandalised public infrastructure in a series of coordinated operations across the state. Spokesman SP Lawan Shiisu Adam disclosed the recoveries on Tuesday.

The haul included a motorcycle, three blocks of cannabis, 13 domestic animals, 39 yards of shadda materials, three sewing machines, a solar battery, a split air conditioner, and large quantities of vandalised armoured cable wires.

The operations also led to the arrest of suspected armed robbers, drug dealers, vandals, burglars, and cattle rustlers across the state.

Among those arrested was 30-year-old Sulaiman Usman, intercepted at Majiyawa village with a blood-stained motorcycle and an iron rod.

Investigations revealed he allegedly attacked a commercial motorcyclist in Bauchi State before fleeing with the motorcycle.

His case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse.

Seven suspected drug dealers were arrested across Dutse, Miga, Jahun, Birnin Kudu, and Kafin Hausa LGAs, with cannabis and thousands of other illicit drugs recovered.

In Hadejia, suspects linked to shopbreaking were caught with shadda materials and sewing machines, while in Kazaure, a burglar was intercepted with a solar battery and split air conditioner believed stolen from a federal institution.

Two suspected vandals were apprehended in Gwaram and Taura with large quantities of armoured cable, and five suspects were arrested in Maigatari, Sule Tankarkar, and Hadejia LGAs over theft of domestic animals, with 13 animals recovered and scheduled to be returned to their owners.

Commissioner of Police Dahiru Muhammad commended the officers for their professionalism and urged them to maintain the tempo.

He also appealed to residents to provide credible information, stressing that security is a collective responsibility.

The command assured that all suspects would be charged to court after investigations.
