Arsenal celebration draws criticism from John Terry after the Chelsea legend says the Gunners over-celebrated their Champions League semi-final win

Former Chelsea captain John Terry has criticised Arsenal for what he described as excessive celebrations after the North London club secured a place in the UEFA Champions League final on Tuesday night.

John Terry questions Arsenal’s over-the-top celebrations followed Arsenal’s narrow 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final clash at the Emirates Stadium, with Bukayo Saka scoring the decisive goal.

Mikel Arteta’s side sealed their progression to the final on aggregate before celebrating passionately with fans after the final whistle, a reaction that has since drawn mixed opinions.

Reacting on social media platform TikTok, Terry acknowledged Arsenal’s achievement but suggested their post-match celebrations went too far.

“I have been looking forward to this game all week, especially after the poor game of football [between Arsenal and Atletico Madrid],” Terry said.

“But fair play to Arsenal on making the Champions League final. By the way, Arsenal way over-celebrated. Far too much for me.

“Yeah, you’re excited because you made the Champions League final, but you over-celebrated a little bit too much for me.”

Arsenal’s qualification marks a significant milestone under manager Mikel Arteta, as the club continues its push for European glory after years of rebuilding.
