Jos attack Muslim victims confirmed as JNI reports four killed and 10 missing after deadly violence in Plateau State community

The Plateau State chapter of Jama’atu Nasril Islam has confirmed that four of its members were killed and 10 others remain missing following Sunday’s attack on Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North Local Government Area.

The Secretary of the organisation, Salim Umar, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, based on findings from community reports and internal investigations conducted after the incident.

According to the group, the Jos attack Muslim victims include four confirmed deaths, while 10 individuals have yet to be accounted for since the violence erupted on March 29.

“Following thorough investigation and reports received from Muslim communities, we have discovered that four Muslims were killed while ten are still missing,” the statement said.

JNI added that some of the victims’ bodies have been identified at the Jos University Teaching Hospital, while families of the missing persons have been unable to establish contact with them, raising concerns about their safety.

The organisation also confirmed that two injured persons are currently receiving treatment at the hospital, noting that it is maintaining contact with affected families.

The attack, which reportedly claimed at least 28 lives across the community, has heightened tensions and drawn reactions from various groups, with calls for calm and restraint.

JNI extended condolences to the families of the victims and urged residents to remain peaceful while security agencies continue efforts to stabilise the area.

“We condole with the parents of all the victims who lost their loved ones and call on the public to remain calm,” the statement read, while also acknowledging the response of the Plateau State Government and security agencies in managing the situation.

The incident remains under investigation as authorities intensify efforts to locate the missing persons and bring those responsible to justice.
