Kogi police arrest eight suspects in joint bush operation, working with the army and local vigilantes to dismantle criminal networks

The Kogi State Police Command has arrested eight suspected criminals during a joint bush combing operation involving security operatives, the Nigerian Army, local hunters, and vigilante groups.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Saliu Afusat, said the operation was part of an ongoing effort to deny criminal elements any safe haven in the state.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that some of the suspects are believed to be informants aiding kidnapping syndicates operating within the area,” she added.

Afusat explained that the bush combing targeted forested and remote locations suspected to be vulnerable to criminal exploitation.

Ground operations were complemented by aerial surveillance to track suspicious movements and identify concealed hideouts.

She noted that discovered bandit camps and hideouts were neutralised to prevent reuse, strengthening the command’s intelligence-led security measures across Kogi State.

State Police Commissioner Mr Naziru Kankarofi reassured residents of the command’s firm control of the security situation.

He urged the public to remain calm, law-abiding, and vigilant, and to report any suspicious activity through the command’s emergency lines at 07038329084 and 08152195982.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, with appropriate legal action to follow based on the findings.
