Security forces repel Kwara bandit attack in Share, while four residents are kidnapped in Kakafu community, raising fresh security concerns

Security forces have repelled a bandit attack in Share community, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, as four residents were abducted in a separate assault in Patigi LGA.

The Kwara bandit attack in Share occurred on Sunday evening, February 15, and lasted about one hour, according to Ibraheem Abdullateef, Senior Special Assistant on Communications to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Abdullateef said combined security operatives successfully pushed back the assailants after an exchange of gunfire.

He added that there were no reported casualties or abductions in Share as of the time of filing the report.

“Further information is being awaited. May God bless and protect our gallant security forces always,” Abdullateef stated.

However, in a separate incident earlier the same day, suspected bandits attacked Kakafu community, a remote settlement in Patigi Local Government Area, at about 1:30 a.m.

The attackers reportedly abducted four residents, including a man, a woman and her two daughters.

Residents said the gunmen fired sporadically into the air, creating panic before taking the victims to an unknown destination.

A community source confirmed that no deaths were recorded during the raid but described the situation as deeply unsettling.

A forest guard, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said fear has gripped the community amid concerns that the attackers may be hiding in nearby areas.

Kwara State has faced rising security challenges in recent months, particularly along the Kwara–Niger axis.

Religious and community leaders have urged the Federal Government to establish a military base in the region to stem further attacks.

When contacted, the state police spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said she was not immediately aware of the Patigi incident.

The latest Kwara bandit attack underscores growing concerns over rural security and the urgent need for coordinated counterterrorism measures in the state.
