A woman was rescued by local fishermen after she allegedly jumped into the Lagos Lagoon from the Idumota-Carter Bridge in Lagos on Tuesday afternoon, prompting concern among passers-by who witnessed the dramatic rescue.

The Lagos Lagoon rescue was captured in a video shared on X by user #ChuksErice, showing the woman sitting in a wooden canoe after being pulled from the water as a fisherman paddled away from the bridge.

The woman appeared disoriented following the incident, while people gathered on the bridge reacted with shock and questioned what could have driven her to take such a dangerous step.

One woman speaking in Yoruba could be heard asking, “What were you thinking to that extent?”

Another passer-by responded, “I can never kill myself because of thinking,” while a third person said, “Pray to never be in that position.”

The circumstances surrounding the incident remained unclear as of the time of filing this report. Her condition after the rescue was also not immediately known.
