Lakurawa bandits attack Dadin-Kowa mosque in Kebbi during Taraweeh prayers, leaving several worshippers dead and many others injured

Suspected members of the Lakurawa armed group attacked Dadin-Kowa community in Maiyama Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Wednesday night, killing several residents and injuring many others during Taraweeh prayers.

Security analyst and crisis journalist, Bakatsine, reported via his X handle that the attackers stormed a mosque where worshippers were observing prayers in the holy month of Ramadan.

The incident reportedly resulted in multiple fatalities, while several worshippers sustained injuries.

The mosque was desecrated during the attack, prompting criticism from Bakatsine, who described the assault as a grim reminder of persistent insecurity in northern Nigeria.

He questioned how individuals committing violence against worshippers during Ramadan could claim to represent Islam, noting that such actions tarnish the faith and fuel hostility.As of Thursday, security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the attack.
