The 38-year-old Argentine superstar Lionel Messi both scored and assisted in a commanding display that reminded fans of his enduring quality ahead of the upcoming World Cup.

Inter Miami opened the scoring midway through the first half after a fluid team move involving Luis Suárez, Telasco Segovia and Messi, who finished calmly into the far corner.

Despite dominating proceedings, Messi was unable to extend his goal tally in the second half, narrowly missing with a curling effort from distance that went just wide of the post.

He also came close to a spectacular free kick in stoppage time, only to be denied by a full-stretch save from goalkeeper James Pantemis.
