IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu visits Maiduguri bomb victims, inspects damage, and reinforces security to prevent further attacks

Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has visited victims of Monday’s bomb explosions in Maiduguri, expressing condolences and assessing damage at the affected locations.

The police chief began his visit at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where he met injured victims receiving treatment, before proceeding to Monday Market to evaluate the scene of the blasts.

According to a statement from the Nigeria Police Force, Disu also visited the Borno State Government House and the State Police Command Headquarters during the engagement. He reassured residents that security forces are taking all measures to prevent further attacks.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in dismantling all networks responsible for the attacks and preventing any recurrence,” Disu said.

The Inspector General noted that security has been strengthened across Maiduguri and its environs, with enhanced deployments, increased surveillance, and joint operational measures.

The visit comes amid heightened concerns over recurrent terror attacks in northern Nigeria, including recent high-profile bombings in the region. The police have emphasised vigilance and collaboration with local communities to prevent future incidents.
