Malami EFCC assets: EFCC uncovers 41 properties worth N212bn linked to former AGF Abubakar Malami and son across Kebbi, Kano, and Abuja

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered 41 properties valued at over N212 billion allegedly linked to Abubakar Malami, former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, and his son, Abdulaziz Malami.

The assets, spread across Kebbi State, Kano State, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), include hotels, universities, schools, factories, fuel businesses, radio stations, and luxury residences.

Investigations reveal that Kebbi State hosts the largest share, valued at N162.1 billion, while Kano State assets are worth N16 billion and FCT properties total N34.6 billion, bringing the combined value to N212.8 billion.

In Kebbi State, the discovered assets include Rayhaan University (permanent, temporary, and third sites), Rayhaan Model Academy, Rayhaan Primary and Secondary School, staff quarters, factories, machinery, fuel tanker garages, hotels, shopping facilities, a printing press, and a radio station.

Several high-value residential buildings, foundation structures, and uncompleted multi-storey complexes allegedly connected to Malami and his family were also listed.

In Kano, EFCC traced Zeennoor Hotel, its mosque and old hotel structure, Rayhaan Hotel, a gym facility, and a luxury residence purportedly owned by Malami’s wife.

In the FCT, properties include prime duplexes in Maitama, two Meethaq Hotels in Jabi and Maitama, Harmonia Hotel in Garki, and 42 housing units at Efab Estate.

Following the discovery, the federal government has filed a 16-count money laundering charge against Malami and his son under the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act. EFCC officials indicated that further legal actions may follow as investigations continue.
