The controversy erupted when she declared plans to stage the stunt in Lekki, Lagos, claiming it would set a Guinness World Record.

However, Guinness World Records quickly dismissed the proposal, stating it does not monitor or endorse records involving sexual activity due to safety, ethical, and verification concerns.

The Eselu of Iselu Kingdom, Oba Akintunde Akinyemi, petitioned Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, calling for Mandy Kiss’s arrest and condemning her plan as “shameful, disgraceful, and a stain on Nigeria’s reputation.”

In a TikTok video, Mandy Kiss downplayed the uproar, insisting the announcement was a publicity stunt. She admitted she never intended to carry out the act, citing a lack of resources and legal risk.

“I was just trying to see if I was still relevant. Everywhere was dry on my page, so I came up with the idea to boost engagement and get adverts. I just wanted to make some money,” she explained.

Despite her clarification, public criticism continues. Social media users mocked her, with comments such as:

Chidinma Obele: “Should we believe that you were catching cruise and decided to invite Guinness World Records?”
Josephine Alade: “She’s still catching cruise now. It will soon clear from her eyes.”
Prince Moses: “Since she heard about the petition for her arrest, she’s now calling it a joke. She should go complete that cruise in the cell.”
Ende Obenico: “There is this particular tribe that always makes mistakes in dialing numbers.”
