MFM Women NBBF League run continues as they crush First Deepwater and qualify for the Lagos final after winning all games in Phases One and Two

MFM Women NBBF League journey remains flawless as the defending champions of the Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s Basketball League booked their spot in the Lagos final on Thursday after another dominant win in the Atlantic Conference Phase 2.

The Mountain of Fire Ministries (MFM) Women’s Basketball Team delivered a crushing 65–29 victory over First Deepwater in Ilorin, marking yet another one-sided performance that underlines their title credentials.

“The champions were so far ahead, they slowed down late in the game to conserve energy,” an observer noted.

With a perfect record across both Phase One and Phase Two, MFM have mathematically secured qualification for the final showdown scheduled to take place in Lagos from September 14 to 18 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium.

In the day’s second game, First Bank edged past Dolphins in a nail-biting 43–42 win.

The tight encounter kept spectators at the edge of their seats, showcasing the high level of competition in this year’s league.

Both teams fought hard for a chance at the final ticket, but First Bank’s narrow win kept them in the race alongside MFM.

The Zenith Bank-sponsored event, organised by the Nigerian Basketball Federation (NBBF), is drawing closer to its climax, with the Lagos finals now locked in for mid-September.
