Mokwa tanker explosion injured two people on Tuesday night after a twin petrol tanker burst into flames in the sawmill area of Mokwa Local Government Area, Niger State.

The incident occurred just two weeks after a separate tanker explosion in Essa Community, Katcha LGA, which tragically claimed over 40 lives.

The Niger Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Aishat Saadu, confirmed that the explosion took place while fuel was being transloaded between two tankers.

“The victims suffered varying degrees of injuries and have been taken to hospital for treatment,” Saadu said.

FRSC personnel acted quickly to cordon off the area, controlling traffic and preventing further danger. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the blast to ensure safety measures are enforced.
