Morocco win CHAN 2024 after Oussama Lamlioui’s spectacular long-range strike clinched a dramatic 3-2 victory over Madagascar in the African Nations Championship final at Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi.

The Atlas Lions, favorites heading into the showdown, were pushed all the way by a spirited Madagascar side making their first appearance in an African tournament final.

Madagascar stunned the crowd early when Felicite “Fely” Manohantsoa unleashed a superb strike from distance in the 9th minute. Morocco responded strongly and leveled in the 27th minute through Youssef Mehri’s towering header.

Just before halftime, Lamlioui pounced on a loose ball in the box to put Morocco ahead 2-1. But Madagascar showed remarkable resilience, equalizing in the 68th minute through Toky Rakotondraibe’s sharp finish.

The decisive moment arrived in the 80th minute. Lamlioui spotted goalkeeper Michel “Toldo” Ramandimbisoa off his line and delivered an astonishing 50-yard strike that sailed into the net — a goal worthy of winning any final.

The victory sealed Morocco’s record third CHAN title, underlining their dominance in the competition. For Madagascar, the narrow defeat marked the end of a historic run that captured the imagination of fans across the continent.
