Mourinho approves Real Madrid transfers for Konaté and Dumfries as the club moves to strengthen its defence ahead of the new season

Incoming Real Madrid manager José Mourinho has reportedly approved moves for two defensive signings as the club prepares for a summer squad rebuild ahead of the new season.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Mourinho has given the green light for the arrivals of Ibrahima Konaté and Denzel Dumfries as the Spanish giants look to strengthen their backline.

Romano posted on X that the Portuguese coach is in support of both deals, noting that Real Madrid are actively progressing negotiations with the players’ representatives.

The report stated that French defender Konaté, who recently became a free agent after leaving Liverpool, is expected to join the LaLiga side on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan full-back Dumfries is also on the verge of a move, with Madrid preparing to activate his €20 million release clause.

Romano added that Mourinho remains open to additional defensive reinforcements if the right opportunity arises in the transfer market.

Real Madrid are currently restructuring their defence following the departures of veteran players David Alaba and captain Dani Carvajal, creating urgent demand for fresh additions.
