Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan fake investment video warning alerts Nigerians to a doctored clip used by fraudsters to promote a scam scheme

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has warned Nigerians about a manipulated video circulating online that falsely portrays her endorsing an investment scheme.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan issued the warning on Sunday in a statement shared through her official social media platforms, describing the viral clip as a fraudulent fabrication designed to deceive members of the public.

According to Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the video was created by scammers who altered footage from an earlier interview she granted to television journalist Seun Okinbaloye.

The senator said the manipulated footage was edited to appear as though she was promoting an investment opportunity, even though the original interview contained no such endorsement.

“It has come to my attention that unscrupulous individuals have doctored and manipulated my interview with Seun Okinbaloye to promote a fraudulent investment scheme,” Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan said.

She stressed that the clip, although appearing to feature her image and voice, was entirely fake and part of a deliberate attempt to lure unsuspecting members of the public into a scam.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan urged Nigerians to disregard the video and avoid any financial scheme linked to the content.

The lawmaker also called on members of the public to help curb the spread of the fraudulent material by reporting accounts or platforms circulating the clip.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan further appealed to law enforcement authorities and social media companies to investigate the matter and take decisive action against those responsible for creating and distributing the misleading content.

She advised citizens to remain vigilant and cautious about online investment opportunities that promise unusually quick or guaranteed financial returns.

Digital scams involving manipulated videos and false endorsements by public figures have increasingly become a serious concern in Nigeria, prompting calls for stronger regulation and greater public awareness to protect citizens from financial fraud.
