NDLEA Kano drug raids lead to arrest of 17 suspects and seizure of methamphetamine, cannabis, diazepam and other illicit substances across strategic locations

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested 17 suspects during a series of intelligence-led raids across strategic locations in Kano State.

The operations were carried out under the directive of Commander in charge of Kano Strategic Command, DY Lawal, targeting areas including Race Course, Dan’agundi, Filin Mahaha, Kano Zoological Garden, Farm Center by Zaria Road and Tashar Rami Na’ibawa.

According to a statement issued by Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics and Public Relations Officer of the NDLEA Kano Strategic Command, the coordinated raids led to the arrest of 17 individuals allegedly involved in drug-related activities.

Items recovered during the operations include assorted illicit substances such as methamphetamine, locally referred to as “Ice,” cannabis sativa, Exol-5, diazepam and rubber solution.

Maigatari said the seizures underscore the Command’s sustained efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and curb the distribution and abuse of narcotics within the state.

He noted that the enforcement drive aligns with the directive of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Mohamed Buba Marwa, who has called for intensified nationwide operations aimed at promoting a drug-free society.

Commander Lawal reiterated the Command’s resolve to safeguard communities across Kano State and assured residents that operations would continue, particularly as authorities seek to ensure a drug-free Ramadan.
