Gary Neville, speaking on The Gary Neville Podcast, said he does not believe Arsenal, managed by Mikel Arteta, will be able to overcome Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid when the two sides meet in the first-leg semi-final clash in Madrid on Wednesday night.

The Manchester United legend suggested that while Arsenal remain in strong contention for the Premier League title, their European campaign may fall short at the penultimate stage of the competition.

“Arsenal only got four (matches) left in the league, so you could argue that it’s easy to win both,” Gary Neville said during the podcast discussion.

“But I don’t see them getting past Atletico Madrid and the other teams in the semi-final, but I do see them having a chance with the league,” he added.

Arsenal, led by Mikel Arteta, head into the tie against Atletico Madrid with growing expectations after a strong European run, but Neville’s comments inject a note of scepticism into their Champions League ambitions.

Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid, known for their defensive discipline and tactical resilience, are widely expected to provide a stern test in the high-stakes encounter.
