Nigeria Flamingos friendly matches scheduled as U-17 women’s team face Generation Next and Nazareth Queens ahead of Guinea qualifiers

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, will step up preparations for their upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers with a series of friendly matches against Generation Next and Nazareth Queens in Abuja this weekend.

The Nigeria Flamingos friendly matches are scheduled to take place at the Gold Project Pitch on Saturday and Sunday, as the team intensifies preparations for their second-round qualifying fixture against Guinea.

Head coach Akeem Busari has called up 36 players to camp for the first phase of preparations, with the squad currently housed at the Serob Legacy Hotel in the Federal Capital Territory.

The friendly encounters are expected to give the coaching crew a clearer assessment of player readiness ahead of the crucial qualifiers, which will determine progression towards the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

Guinea will host the first leg of the qualifying tie in Conakry between 22 and 24 May, while the return leg is scheduled to take place in Nigeria on 30 May.

The Flamingos, who remain one of Africa’s strongest youth women’s teams, are seeking a smooth qualification path as they aim to maintain their strong international pedigree.
