Nigeria inflation July 2025 falls as food prices ease, showing a positive trend for households and businesses

Nigeria inflation July 2025 dropped to 21.88 per cent, down from June’s 22.22 per cent, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Food inflation also declined to 22.74 per cent on a year-on-year basis, 16.79 per cent lower than the 39.53 per cent recorded in July 2024.

The bureau explained that the decline in annual food inflation is partly due to the change in the base year. On a month-on-month basis, the food inflation rate was 3.12 per cent, slightly down from June’s 3.25 per cent.

Prices of key staples like vegetable oil, rice, maize flour, beans, wheat flour, and millet showed noticeable decreases.

Headline inflation also fell by 0.34 per cent from June 2025, and on a year-on-year comparison, it was 11.52 per cent lower than July 2024’s 33.40 per cent.

The NBS highlighted that, despite the positive annual trend, the month-on-month headline inflation rate increased slightly to 1.99 per cent in July 2025 from June’s 1.68 per cent, reflecting a modest rise in average price levels.
