Nigeria revenue target 2025 has been surpassed ahead of schedule, President Bola Tinubu announced in Abuja on Tuesday.

The President declared that the country had met its projected revenues for the year by August, marking a milestone in his administration’s effort to cut reliance on borrowing.

Tinubu credited the success to a stronger non-oil revenue drive that delivered N10.39 trillion, in line with the Federal Government’s 2025 Appropriation Act.

The budget projected a record N18.32 trillion in total revenue to finance N28.78 trillion in spending, with oil income contributing N7.94 trillion.

“Our country is no longer borrowing to stay afloat. We met our target early, and that is a testament to the discipline and reforms we have pursued,” Tinubu said, describing the feat as a powerful turning point for Nigeria’s economy.

The President also highlighted gains in foreign exchange stability, noting that the naira had strengthened from N1,900/$ to about N1,450/$ after last year’s unification of the exchange rate windows.

“Nobody is trading pieces of paper for exchange rate anymore. Just export, import, and create jobs,” he added.

Tinubu dismissed concerns over U.S. President Donald Trump’s new tariffs, stressing that Nigeria’s diversified income base would shield the country from global shocks.

“If non-oil revenue is growing, then we have no fear of whatever Trump is doing on the other side,” he said.

On food security, the President announced a nationwide mechanisation programme with training centres across every region. “If we remove hunger, we have defeated poverty,” he declared.

He also pledged to honour his predecessor by building a “Buhari House,” which he called “a house of joy and prosperity.”

Leaders of The Buhari Organisation, led by former Nasarawa State Governor Tanko Al-Makura, praised Tinubu for both economic reforms and loyalty to Buhari’s legacy.

Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, reaffirmed CPC members’ support for Tinubu, pledging mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.

Tinubu closed the meeting on an optimistic note: “Don’t let anybody threaten you with uncertainty. We are on the path to Nigeria’s recovery. You will have joy at the end of this journey.”
