NSCDC Anambra vows to arrest anyone extorting candidates ahead of 2026 JAMB registration, boosting collaboration with examination authorities

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has pledged to arrest and prosecute anyone involved in extorting candidates ahead of the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration.

The warning was issued by the State Commandant, Mr Olatunde Maku, during a familiarisation visit by JAMB State Coordinator, Dr Dinah Obiano, to the NSCDC headquarters in Awka on Friday.

Maku said the command is reinforcing its collaboration with JAMB to ensure a smooth registration and examination process.

He added that personnel would be deployed to all registration centres to secure facilities and protect prospective candidates from exploitation.

“Ahead of the commencement of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration, the command will deploy personnel massively to various registration centres,” Maku said.

“This is to ensure that prospective candidates are not shortchanged. Anyone caught violating government-approved procedures will face the full wrath of the law.”

He highlighted that the partnership between NSCDC and JAMB has previously led to the closure of non-accredited centres and the arrest of syndicates exploiting candidates during registration.

Earlier, Dr Dinah Obiano commended the corps for its support, describing their involvement as a call to national duty.

She assured that the 2026 UTME would be conducted in a peaceful and conducive environment across the state.

The corps’ proactive measures are part of ongoing efforts to curb examination malpractice and strengthen the integrity of the UTME process.
