NSCDC Commandant General, Professor Audi Abubakar, distributes drones, bulletproof vests, and advanced operational tools to state formations, urging discipline and professionalism

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Audi Abubakar, has distributed advanced operational equipment to heads of state formations during the corps’ annual strategic meeting at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja on March 27, 2026.

Addressing state commanders and senior officers, Abubakar warned that acts of indiscipline would not be tolerated and that severe sanctions await any officer found wanting.

He also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for renewing his tenure, framing it as a call to strengthen professionalism and diligence across the corps.

Highlighting his achievements, Abubakar noted progress in addressing welfare issues such as unpaid salary arrears and stalled promotions, boosting personnel morale and operational efficiency.

He also recounted the corps’ success in protecting critical infrastructure, including the destruction of over 400 illegal refineries, arrests of smugglers, and successful prosecutions of offenders.

In a major development, the Commandant General unveiled a suite of modern operational tools for state formations, including:

  •  Drones for aerial monitoring
  •  Operational backpacks with mini tablets
  •  Solar chargers, GPS trackers, and situation room connectivity packs
  •  Bulletproof vests, helmets, combat boots, and knee/ankle caps
  •  Night vision operational goggles, body cameras, and pen recorders
  •  Chain cutters, torchlight batons, and shocking batons
  •  Uniforms and berets for officers
  •  Administrative tools including water dispensers and NSCDC manuals

“These gadgets are provided to enhance surveillance, response times, and officer safety. They must be strictly used for corps duties,” Abubakar said.

He emphasized capacity building, inter-agency collaboration, and intelligence sharing as critical to achieving operational excellence.

The meeting also reviewed the corps’ strategic blueprint for the year, focusing on countering insecurity, banditry, illegal mining, and infrastructure vandalism.

The gathering drew heads of formations from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, underlining NSCDC’s commitment to a technologically equipped, disciplined, and professional force capable of safeguarding Nigeria’s critical assets and natural resources.
