Olamide has defended his remark describing Wizkid as the greatest Afrobeats artist after Fela, saying fans cannot diminish anyone’s greatness

Ace Nigerian rapper Olamide Adedeji, popularly known as Olamide Baddo, has responded to the wave of backlash trailing his declaration that Wizkid is “the greatest Afrobeats artist after Fela.”

The rapper stirred heated debate after making the remark at a press conference in Toronto, Canada, prompting immediate reactions from fans of Burna Boy and Davido, many of whom rejected his assessment on social media.

Addressing the controversy in a post shared via his X handle on Friday, Olamide noted that everyone is entitled to their personal opinion, stressing that the success of Afrobeats is broad enough to accommodate multiple greats.

He said:
“Honestly, this whole lengthy 3-way conversation is pretty much whatever. You can’t diminish anyone’s greatness, whether they’re A-list, B-list, or anything else. Feel free to believe what you want or support whoever you choose—there’s plenty of room in the sky for everyone.”

The YBNL boss also clarified that none of the artists being compared—Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid—would be narrow-minded enough to feel offended by someone else’s perspective.

According to him:
“One thing to remember is that Burna, David, and Wiz aren’t narrow-minded enough to get offended by someone else’s opinion or perspective.

That’s part of why they’ve reached where they are today.”
