Osun NSCDC arrest of a 22-year-old man for attempted rape has drawn attention to the command’s determination to curb crime across the state.

The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps disclosed that the suspect accosted two women plucking pepper on a farm in Ita-Olokan, Osogbo a property that did not belong to him.

According to the command’s spokesperson, Kehinde Adeleke, the suspect threatened to report the women to security agents unless they allowed him to have sexual intercourse with them.

While one of the women escaped, the suspect allegedly pushed the other to the ground, assaulted her, and attempted to have carnal knowledge of her.

The suspect later confessed that he did not penetrate but ejaculated after lying on her, fearing that the escaped victim might return with help.

In a separate case, the Osun NSCDC also arrested two individuals accused of encroaching on government land in the Oke-Osun area.

The suspects allegedly destroyed official demarcations and excavated sand for sale, with investigations revealing that several truck drivers had been exploiting the land for commercial purposes.

Osun NSCDC Commandant, Igbalawole Sotiyo, reiterated the organisation’s readiness to rid the state of criminally minded individuals and urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly.
