Oyo Police rescue two abducted minors, arrest four suspects, and apprehend seven in Atisbo murder case, highlighting intelligence-led operations

The Oyo State Police Command has rescued two abducted minors, arrested four suspects in the kidnapping, and apprehended seven individuals linked to a murder in Atisbo Local Government Area.

Commissioner of Police Femi Haruna disclosed the successes in a statement issued through Police Public Relations Officer Olayinka Ayanlade on Sunday.

The kidnapping occurred on 9 January at the Iwéré-Ìlè Division, involving 15-year-old Hadu Abubakar and 14-year-old Sadari Abubakar from Akinsapon Village.

A joint security team swiftly deployed on credible intelligence secured the safe release of the minors and arrested four suspects: Abubakar Abubakar (25), Usman Mohammed (23), Sanda Legi (21), and Dore Hado (22).

Two suspects sustained injuries and are receiving medical attention under tight security, while two remain in police custody.

Weapons and N15,700 were recovered, and the suspects have confessed to the crime.

In a separate operation at Ago-Are Division, police solved a murder case in Ofiki Village, Atisbo LGA.

Investigations revealed a dispute over cattle rearing between Umaru Saidu (40), Umaru Gambo (37), and Seidu Amisu (20), which escalated into a fatal assault.

The perpetrators allegedly attempted to conceal the crime by secretly burying the victim.

All seven suspects involved have been arrested and are cooperating with authorities.

“The state police command, under CP Haruna, remains committed to protecting lives and property through proactive and intelligence-led policing,” the statement said.

Suspects from both cases have been transferred to specialised units for further investigation.

The command continues to urge citizens to report suspicious activities and provide credible intelligence to enhance prompt police response and dismantle criminal networks across the state.
