PSC extends the deadline for 50,000 police constable applications to February 8, 2026, following over 400,000 submissions nationwide

The Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), has extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables by two weeks, following an overwhelming response from applicants across Nigeria.

Announcing the extension on Monday, the PSC stated that the application portal, which opened on December 15, 2025, will now close on February 8, 2026. The decision follows the receipt of more than 400,000 applications within the initial window.

The Commission explained that the extension aims to address disparities in participation among states. While Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna recorded strong interest, other states such as Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra showed comparatively low application numbers.

“All eligible Nigerians, particularly those from states with low application turnout, are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the extension and apply through the official recruitment portal,” the PSC stated.

Applicants are required to submit their forms exclusively via the PSC recruitment website at npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, as no other platform is authorised for the exercise.

To broaden participation, the PSC and NPF urged state governments, local councils, traditional institutions, religious bodies, and community leaders to intensify mobilisation and sensitisation efforts ahead of the new deadline.

The Commission reiterated that the recruitment process would strictly adhere to established guidelines, ensuring transparency, fairness, and merit-based selection.

The recruitment of 50,000 constables forms part of the Federal Government’s ongoing effort to strengthen internal security, enhance police presence across communities, and address manpower gaps within the Nigeria Police Force.
