Barcelona winger Raphinha has suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury and will miss Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid, according to reports from ESPN.

The 28-year-old Brazilian has been sidelined since September 25, when Barcelona defeated Real Oviedo. He had returned to training earlier this week and was expected to make the bench for the clash at the Santiago Bernabéu.

However, the forward experienced fresh discomfort during Friday’s session, ruling him out of the highly anticipated encounter.

It is now feared that Raphinha could spend a few more weeks on the sidelines before returning to action for the Catalan giants.

Real Madrid currently lead La Liga by two points, while Barcelona will be hoping to close the gap. The Catalans won all four meetings between the two rivals last season.
