Retired CDS Gen. Christopher Musa urges soldiers to stay committed to national security during his emotional farewell parade in Abuja

The immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, Retired Gen. Christopher Musa, has called on Nigerian soldiers to remain steadfast in safeguarding the nation.

Musa made the statement during an emotional Pulling-Out Parade in his honour in Abuja, marking the end of his 39-year distinguished military career.

Reflecting on his service, he described protecting Nigeria as the greatest honour of his life.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, who appointed him CDS in 2023, and acknowledged the support of fellow military leaders and the Nigerian people.

Paying tribute to his family, Musa said:

“You are the unsung heroes of my service, and I owe you a debt of love that can never be fully repaid.”

He urged the armed forces to continue serving with dedication, loyalty, and professionalism, stressing that military victories must be enduring.

Musa also highlighted the importance of unity among security agencies, including the Nigerian Police, DSS, and NIA, for sustained success.

“I remain a soldier at heart, a patriot committed to the sovereignty of Nigeria. This may be the end of my active service, but I will continue to serve in whatever way I can.”
